Welcome to the home of the

The Grosse Pointe 'Redbirds' Baseball Organization celebrates our 21st year of enhancing and developing the lives of young men, while teaching the lessons of life that come from playing baseball. The Redbirds, led by former Detroit Tiger and 1984 World Champion Dave Bergman, is committed to perpetuating a love for the game. The organization provides exposure to top players from the Grosse Pointes and surrounding areas who want to develop their baseball skills by competing at the highest level. We currently have 4 alumni playing in the professional ranks and over 80 players who have gone on to compete at the college level. GPBO stresses academic excellence, high moral standards, discipline, respect, concern for others and a winning attitude in the development of their Redbird ballplayers.

After much thought and consideration, the Redbird organization has decided not to offer a 13U team for 2016. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We will definitely revisit this for the following year.

NO tryouts for 16s, 17s or 18s

Passing of Dave Bergman

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Dave Bergman lost his brave battle with cancer on February 2, 2015. Though we knew this day would come, we can never be prepared for the great loss and grief we will feel.

Dave was a wonderful role model, remarkable man and a true inspiration to all. Though he will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten.

The Bergman family has asked that memorial contributions be directed to our GP Redbirds website, here. Money collected will go specifically to Bile Duct Cancer Research, the Joe Niekro Foundation and the GP Redbirds.

If you wish to include a note, I will make sure that the family receives it. Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

"The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field - this game - is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good and could be again."
